He is unaware of his dark past and just tries to live a simple life, doing his best to do right day by day. He's seemingly stuck at the age of 24 and his birthday is March 23rd. • Background •Lowen is unaware of his past or true nature due to amnesia. He lived a previous life in the far past as a rather powerful, yet somewhat accident prone mage working for a rather cruel King as a curator of the castle's archive of tomes. He worked on improving his abilities and tried to summon a familiar to help him master his magical abilities.
Unfortunately, he only managed to summon the demon Azkal and accidentally bound the sinful creature to his soul. Azkal was crass but quickly grew deeply attached to the mothbat. He often attempted to convince Lowen to summon Baphomet, The Queen of Demons, but Lowen resisted the idea of giving the Devil a physical form and releasing her onto the world...up until the King found out that he had a demon linked to his soul. |
The King ruined his life and ordered Lowen's execution. He lost everything that mattered to him as everyone in his life turned against him. He only had Azkal by his side as he fled for his life. Overwhelmed with despair and lust for revenge, he was convinced by a concerned Azkal to summon Baphomet. The demon queen was so pleased to finally have a mortal shell within the mortal universe that she granted Lowen the power he desired for his revenge. She transformed him down to his very soul, warping his being from a mere mortal to a powerful demon worthy being one of the kings of Hell itself. The first and most powerful vampire the world would ever see
With his new abilities and immortal body, Vampire Lord Lowen effortlessly took revenge on the kingdom, killing the King and taking his castle as his own...but the evil influence had corrupted him. The vampire turned the castle's subjects into demons and monsters and began to feed off the living in several nearby villages. Several heroes would attempt to slay him, only to fall one after another.
It would be years before Vampire Lord Lowen would be defeated at the hands of Seven Heroes. They banished Azkal to Hell and dealt a fatal blow to Lowen. With the last of his strength, he cast a few spells as insurance. The first ensuring that he would revive in a year's time rather than his soul getting sent to Hell and the second to immediately re-summon Azkal when the mothbat returned "home." |
However, the first spell messed up. The spell kept his soul bound to the mortal realm like it was meant to, but the actual resurrection wouldn't activate until over a thousand years later. During that time Lowen was mostly forgotten by history, outside of the concept of the mythical "vampire." As time marched on, the area he used to terrorize would repopulate and modernize with his castle replaced with a far more grand mansion owned by Pandora Hildegard.
When Lowen eventually revived in the present, he found himself without any memories of his past. He only remembered his name and was overwhelmed with feeling of intense guilt for something he had no memory of. His new body was much weaker and smaller than his previous transformed one as well. With nowhere to go, Lowen spent a short while homeless until one day Delphine Fay saw him sitting sad on a bench in the park. She took pity on him and treated him to lunch at a pancake shop.

They began to talk and Delphine became attached to him. She couldn't resist taking him into her home as a tenant, under the condition that he assist her around the house and with the threat of being beaten into dust if he tried anything funny. He agreed and moved into her attic, quickly becoming part of her family.
As time passed, it quickly became apparent that Lowen was a vampire. His urges to drink blood and feed on feral animals made it clear. The mothbat struggled with this fact for weeks before finally bringing himself to tell Delphine, who responded plainly with "Oh, I knew. You don't have a reflection, hun." He has since slowly become more comfortable with himself. That was the day he felt that he was truly "home." |
Not long afterwards Azkal reappeared; the conditions for his re-summoning were met when Lowen felt he was "home." The little demon was rather frustrated to see that the reincarnation of his master was not the evil vampire lord he grew attached to, but rather a far more timid and weak creature, like when they met for the first time. After a few rough days, Azkal accepted Lowen as his master once more and changed his name to Axl. The two of them have once again formed a powerful duo, except this time around Axl is more aggressive. It doesn't take much for Lowen to put him in his place, though.
Baphomet is currently keeping an eye on her favorite ex-mortal, and as a result, Axl is forbidden from telling Lowen anything about his past life. She occasionally invades Lowen's dreams or sneaks into his room in the dead of night, although her actions vary between helpful advice, motherly support, and predatory torment. Despite the latter, Lowen is rather fond of her company when she is around.

• Personality •
Lowen is a very polite and kind soul. He's very shy and not great at socializing and easily flustered, leading him to come off as awkward. Lowen is afflicted with vampirism and as a result of his terrible curse, he has no reflection and doesn't really know what he looks like. He assumes that he looks monstrous due to the way vampires are portrayed in media, despite being told otherwise. He sometimes wears thick clothing such as hoodies to hide his features.
He gets very little sleep, so he's often tired and not at his best. He makes bad decisions often, and coupled with his less than stellar luck, he winds up in bad situations. On top of everything, he's not particularly good at anything at all. Still, despite this, he tries is best every day.

• Abilities •
As a vampire, Lowen has no reflection and is unable to enter certain buildings without being invited, specifically places of residence. If he attempts to enter a person's home without being invited, he is physically prevented from going inside as if there were a wall there. Despite this, he only needs to be invited inside once per house and anyone who is currently inside the house can allow him, even if they don't actually live there.
Lowen does need to drink blood but he tries to go as long as he can without indulging himself, which causes him to be far weaker than a vampire should be. Still, he can't avoid his curse. If he goes too long without drinking blood, he begins to experience headaches and it becomes increasingly hard for him to think straight, eventually causing him to mentally degenerate and transform into a feral vampire demon until he drains enough blood. To prevent this, he occasionally drains wild animals to make sure he doesn't transform. He can also accidentally fall into this 'feral' state if he loses large quantities of his own blood through injuries. This causes him to be cowardly in dangerous situations. In the rare occasion that he manages to fill up completely on blood, he regains his full vampire strength and abilities. While he is more active at night, he is completely unaffected by sunlight. His magic is extremely potent and is only amplified by his vampiric abilities. Lowen is also both incredibly durable due to regeneration and physically powerful due to his vampire strength, but doesn't usually tap into this power. All of his abilities become enhanced after he drinks blood as well. Even though he's far weaker than he should be, if he really attempted, he could easily overpower most people.
